Ayr Windows And Doors supply and fit uPVC doors for homes across Ayr and the surrounding areas, from Prestwick through to Maybole and beyond. If your front door is draughty, difficult to lock, or just looking tired, a new uPVC door is one of the most cost-effective upgrades you can make to your home.
uPVC doors have come a long way. Modern profiles are rigid, well-insulated, and available in a good range of colours and finishes that suit everything from a traditional sandstone terrace to a newer build. They're not a compromise choice. They're genuinely good doors.
What uPVC doors do you offer?
We fit several different door styles, so there's something to suit most situations. Front doors, back doors, French doors, patio doors, and stable doors are all available. Each style comes in different configurations to match your property and the space you're working with.
Front doors are available with a wide selection of panel designs, including solid panels, decorative glazed inserts, and fully glazed options. Back doors come in half-glazed and fully-glazed versions depending on how much light you want to bring in. French doors open outward as a pair and work well where you want a wide, clear opening onto a garden or patio. Sliding patio doors are a better fit in tighter spaces, as they don't need any swing room and the large glass area lets in a good amount of natural light. Stable doors, which split in the middle so you can open the top independently, are a practical option for kitchen entrances and back doors where ventilation matters.
What colours and finishes are available?
White is still the most popular choice, but it's far from the only option. We can supply uPVC doors in anthracite grey, black, cream, Irish oak, golden oak, and rosewood woodgrain finishes, among others. Some profiles are available in dual colour, so you can have a different colour on the inside and outside of the door.
The woodgrain finishes in particular have improved significantly over the years. They give a much warmer look than plain white without any of the maintenance that real timber requires. If you want the look of a painted door without the upkeep, a woodgrain uPVC finish is worth considering.
How secure are uPVC doors?
Every uPVC door we fit comes with a multi-point locking system as standard. Rather than a single latch or bolt, multi-point locks secure the door at several points along the frame simultaneously, making it far more resistant to forced entry than an older single-point lock. The frames themselves are reinforced, and any glazed panels use toughened or laminated safety glass.
Here's a summary of the security features included across our uPVC door range:
- Multi-point locking on all door styles, including French and patio doors where both leaves are secured
- Reinforced steel within the frame to prevent flex and resist impact
- Toughened or laminated glazing on all glazed panels as standard
- Anti-snap, anti-pick, anti-drill cylinders available on front door locks
- Shootbolts on French doors securing both the top and bottom of each door leaf
- Internally beaded glazing so glass units cannot be removed from outside
How energy efficient are uPVC doors?
The double glazed panels fitted to our uPVC doors use low-emissivity glass and warm-edge spacer bars, which help to keep heat inside your home rather than letting it escape through the glazing. The uPVC frame itself is a poor conductor of heat, which helps too. Many of the door styles we fit achieve A or A+ energy ratings.
If your current door is old or draughty, the difference a new uPVC door makes is noticeable fairly quickly, particularly in the colder months. Doors that seal properly and have well-insulated frames make a real difference to comfort, not just to your heating bills.
How long does fitting take?
In most cases, fitting a single uPVC door takes around half a day. French doors or patio doors might take a full day depending on the size of the opening and whether any structural work is needed. We measure up carefully beforehand so the door is made to fit your exact opening, which means fitting day runs smoothly and with minimal disruption to your household.
Your home is left clean and tidy at the end of the job. We remove all packaging and old materials, so there's nothing left for you to deal with once we're done.
What guarantee do I get on a new uPVC door?
All uPVC doors we supply and install come with a full 10-year guarantee covering both the product and the workmanship. That covers the door profile, the glazing unit, the frame, and the locking hardware. If anything goes wrong within that period, we'll sort it out.
We're a local business. We're not going anywhere, and we stand behind the work we do for Ayr homeowners.
